From Milan to Tokyo: 25.000 km on board a biomethane-fuelled toyota c-hr

Snam4Mobility’s hybrid car will connect the two Italian cities with the Japanese capital

Today kicks off the eco-friendly adventure that will see a Snam4Mobility hybrid natural gas and biomethane Toyota C-HR cover the approximately twenty-five thousand kilometers, considering a round trip, which separate Italy and Japan.

The car will be the protagonist of a symbolic journey that will connect the cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo with Tokyo. The long test drive will confirm the sustainability and economy of the vehicle, also certifying the reliability of entirely Italian green technologies.

The Toyota C-HR, made available by Snam4Mobility and set up by Landi Renzo and Piccini Impianti, is a hybrid vehicle that, powered by biomethane or natural gas, will permit travelling at very low cost. In the Italian stops, the car will be powered entirely by biomethane. At the wheel will be the driver Guido Guerrini and the journalist Roberto Chiodi.

Departing from Tuscany, the Toyota C-HR has made a stop at the Snam headquarters in San Donato Milanese and at the Bio Verola biomethane plant in Verolanuova (Brescia).

The Bio Verola plant, realized by IES Biogas for Lazzari&Lucchini, was one of the first in Italy to produce advanced biomethane for automotive use starting from agro-livestock biomasses. Every year 2.7 million Sm³ of advanced biomethane are produced, with a saving of more than 2,000 tons of oil equivalent and almost 4.000 tons of CO2 less in the atmosphere. Bio Verola is a perfect example of circular economy and an advanced technological solution that promotes energy transition: it has been identified among the 50 successful projects in the renewable gas sector by the latest report published by EBA – European Biogas Association and reported among the 45 case histories worldwide in the “Showcase Report” of BiogasWorld.
